The Oxford tournament is second in size only to the London Open, and has attracted the largest number of UK-based players in any tournament for several years. In the last edition, there were 92 players from all over the UK, and of all strengths from 5 dan to 30 kyu.

The main tournament follows a 3-round Swiss-Mcmahon format, which is interleaved with a self-paired 9x9 tournament between games.
